The focus this week is on RENAMING FOR SUBTRACTION using tens
and units. Sometimes the children will have to do straight forward subtraction
and sometimes they will be doing subtraction with RENAMING. There is also a
problem to solve every day. Just get some paper and a pencil to work them
out. Have fun!!

Watch
Ms. Molloy's Story Time video – Bee Makes Tea!
•
The main sound in this book is ee/ea (both pronounced
“ee”) like bee, tea, queen, and team
•
Make a list of 4 other words that contain the 'ee' sound
(in either the 'ee' or 'ea' form)
•
Put these words into sentences using your lined English
copy from school
•
Don't forget to always use correct spacing, letter
formations, capital letter and full stop. Skip lines between your sentences
to ensure good presentation.
•
It might be a nice idea to send your writing work to your
teacher through the Aladdin Connect app.

Tricky
words for this week: ever and after
•
Practice writing these words in as many
different ways as possible. Use your rainbow writing on paper, try writing in
chalk on the ground outside, finger paint the words etc.
•
Handwriting – now that you have your
handwriting book at home (Just Handwriting) complete the next one or two
available pages, depending on speed of writing.
•
Posture and pencil grip are very important
when completing a handwriting activity. Posture: chair in, feet down,
back straight, don't frown! Pencil grip: froggy legs.
•
When you've completed the page(s) use a
crayon to highlight your best work. (Self-assessment)
•
10 minutes DEAR time - book of your choice.
Maybe while you're reading you could try to find the tricky words in the
text, 'ever' and 'after' are two words that appear often in fairytales!

and then find the answers:

-
Tens
and Units work:
Try these sums – some are easy take aways and some are
renaming take aways. Can you figure out when you need to do renaming?
Remember the rhyme:
More on the top, no need to stop!
More on the floor,

Below is an example of a word web. Word webs are a great way to
practice using our rich vocabulary. We would like you to create a 'Summer'
word web. Simply put the word summer in the middle of a page and write as
many words as you can think of that are associated with the word summer. This
is like a word association game!
Dear Time – Be read to for 10 mins

Geography
|
As we are currently in the season of Summer, we can see
many more flowers in our gardens and parks as the sunshine has helped many
flowers to bloom. With the help of an adult, go on a plant and flower hunt. Use
one of the worksheets below and try and find as many flowers on the sheet as
you can.
Can you remember some of the things flowers and plants need
to grow?
Pick your favourite flower, draw a picture of it and
include three sentences to describe it e.g. colour, leaf shape.

History

Read Moira’s story to learn about food in the past. Do you
think food is different today to how is was in the past?
If you can speak to an older person, why not interview
them using the question sheet below to discover how the food we eat has
changed over time.

Art
|
Here are some suggested art
activities that you could do this week.
The first one is an
activity using recycled materials you might find at home. Your mother or
father or a grown up at home can help you with this activity.
The second one is a drawing activity. Could you draw a picture of your favourite character from a book or create your own character? Use lots of colour and detail!
If you are creating your
own character, you could do this with the help of your parents or your
siblings. Fold a piece of paper in half, draw the head and upper body of your
character without showing it to the other person, then swap pictures. You
then draw the bottom half of their character and they draw the bottom half of
yours. Swop back and open the page to reveal your full character! Fold it
three times and get another person involved!
I’m sure you will have some
funny looking characters! Don’t forget to name your character at the
end.
